Our Breeding Philosophy

Our Medaka Philosophy
At SNR Medaka USA, we are committed to ethical breeding rooted in tradition. We do not support the mass production of medaka in oversized tubs or industrial setups. To us, medaka are not just ornamental fish—they are living works of art, carefully shaped over generations by skilled Japanese breeders.
We honor the vision of each original breeder (作出者) by preserving the unique traits they developed—whether it’s body shape, coloration, or lineage-specific characteristics. Our goal is to maintain the integrity of each strain, never compromising quality for quantity.
Instead of mass production, we follow a traditional small-batch approach. Every fish is raised outdoors with great care in separate, controlled environments to ensure the purity and health of each line.
We may respectfully decline partnerships or transactions with individuals or businesses whose practices conflict with our ethical standards—especially when those practices prioritize commercial gain over responsible care.
We believe in building a clean, transparent medaka community based on respect, education, and a shared appreciation for the beauty and diversity of these fish.
Thank you for valuing tradition, intention, and authenticity in medaka keeping.
