Explore the subtle beauty of the Wakasagi medaka (Japanese name: ワカサギメダカ), a refined line developed by Yukio Ōba (大場 幸雄) in 2021. Inspired by the Japanese pond smelt, this strain balances blue body tones, iridescent silver dorsal shine, and elegant internal black pigmentation.

This line descends from Seiryū Kiryū Taigaikō (清流きりゅう体外光) and was selectively bred using normal-scaled offspring to enhance the expression of lamé and fin glow. With its durability, shine, and balanced structure, it is a popular choice among intermediate and advanced breeders.
