Medaka Strain – Mirage Glow Medaka

The Mirage Glow Medaka (Japanese name: ミラージュグロウメダカ) is a refined improved medaka strain created through the selective crossbreeding of the original Mirage Medaka and the Emekin variety. After four generations (F4) of careful breeding, individuals were stabilized that exhibit both the signature guanine-based iridescence of the Mirage line and the elegant dorsal external light (体外光) inherited from Emekin.

Selective breeding emphasized blue body coloration without yellow pigmentation and maintained the standard fin structure, avoiding wide-fin traits. Notably, many individuals exhibit the “Earth-Eye” trait—silver-colored eyes that remain highly heritable. The combined traits of iridescence and external light are stably passed on with an estimated fixation rate of 80%.
