Another great order from SNR. I had two DOA of the smaller ones - likely since it’s hot and the shipper delayed from morning until evening - but all the rest have acclimated well and are happy and healthy a few weeks later. Enjoying my Island of Misfit Toys and now culls from some of my other little ponds will have a family to live out their days with. It’s fun trying to guess what strain they are as they grow up! Despite being culls, they are still pretty little ones and in good health. This is a great way to simply get a lot of Medaka to enjoy for the sake of having Medaka at a very low and reasonable price for quality fish. I appreciate the extras for DOA arrivals, too. Usually all my SNR fish make the trip, but this time of year that trip was a bit harder.

Asked for 6 platinum miyuki medaka as a birthday gift, was fortunate to receive 8! They arrived healthy and active. I love watching them in their tank for their beauty and personalities.
I could not be happier! I ordered 6 of the miyuki platinum over the weekend. They were shipped out promptly on Monday and arrived by UPS ground on Wednesday. The fish arrived looking healthy and active. I was lucky to receive 2 additional juveniles. Today they are eating, exploring, and bringing me so much joy.

I’ve waited a bit to review my recent purchase of two sets of breeding trios. Before discovering SNR, I purchased Medaka from a reputable online retailer, LFS and another hobbyist. My fish live lush lives, albeit outside, here in Houston Texas. The online store and LFS fish started strong including lots of fry with zero effort, but they’ve now started to decline and I’ve suddenly lost a fish here and there of the parents. I just don’t think genetics are up to snuff in the aquarium bred strains. The difference in the activity level and quality and heartiness of my SNR and hobbyist fish are night and day. This has been my first time with Medaka ponds, but not fish as I keep Koi, goldfish, and native dace. Until my SNR and hobbyist fish, I was starting to get disappointed at the supposed heartiness and lack of health issues with Medaka. I’m now much happier! Time will tell though and I’ll be sure to update my review if this trend continues. I have way more confidence it will!
